Özet
In the last two decades, Turkey has transformed from a mainly emigration country to a transit and even a destination country. This article is about the Iranian transit migrants liv-ing in Turkey. Although there is no formal evidence on the exact number of Iranians in Turkey at the moment, it is assumed that 500,000 to one million Iranian nationals used Turkey as a transit country in the past, and some 10,000 are still estimated to live in Turkey, often under irregular circumstances. Depending on the fieldwork carried out in several different cities in Turkey where Iranian migrants are heavily concentrated, some of the common problems facing these migrants will be illuminated. These problems are different forms of vulnerability, such as political, social and economic vulnerability as a result of illegality. There is lack of economic resources and lack of psychological support. The article will also shed some light on the human smuggling operation across the Iranian-Turkish border, which can be said to have developed into a'migration industry'in the region.
